Main Street Square is a one-acre outdoor venue in the heart of Downtown Rapid City and serves as a beautiful backdrop for many community events. On average MSS hosts around 100 events annually, including educational, walks for causes, high school reunions, festivals, concerts, vigils, and a variety of others. During the summer months, an interactive fountain dances while the Roughlock Falls and rain curtain provide a relaxing ambience. Strolling around the Square, guests will find native plant life and granite sculptures created by Japanese trained international artist, Masayuki Nagase.

how do i know if my event is PUBlic or private?
A: PUBLIC events are free and open to the public while PRIVATE events are ticketed and closed to the public
public event general info
Public events by organizations or individuals other than Main Street Square must benefit the general public and should be free of charge to the public while following our policies and procedures. If use of Main Street Square equipment, sound system, staffing, or other resources are required some additional charges may apply.
Private Event General info
Private events on Main Street Square are permitted. All private events will be assessed a rental fee dependent on areas and duration used. The general public will not be allowed into the rented area by use of signs and/or fencing. The interactive fountains, restrooms, parts of the alleyway, sidewalks, street corners, and area immediately in front of businesses neighboring Main Street Square will not be available for rent. If use of Main Street Square equipment, sound system, staffing, or other resources are required, additional charges may apply.
Rental Application General Policy
All rental applications must be approved by Main Street Square at least 90 days in advance.
Applications for use of MSS will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis.
No single group or individual will be given preference or priority so that the Square is made available to serve the needs of as many different groups as possible. Equal access shall be given to all groups and individuals applying, and no group or individual shall be denied access because of considerations of race, sex, religious or political persuasion, or because of the political, religious, or social aims expressed by an individual or group, or by any group’s members.
Accepted applications shall not, in any way, constitute an endorsement of the group or individual, or their policies and activities.
Applications are not accepted more than 1 year in advance of the scheduled event.
All events will be secured with the following:
Rental Agreement
Deposit
Certificate of Insurance with Commercial General Liability limits of no less than $1,000,000 (1 million US dollars) with Main Street Square listed as Additional Insured.
Proof of nonprofit or and/or tax exempt status (if applicable)
Main Street Square is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
All events and activities on the site cannot impact or alter the plaza’s structure or grounds.
All City of Rapid City ordinances must be followed for all events and activities.
